Oscar

Oscar is a miniature poodle that we are in the process of adopting.

We found him completely by accident whilst looking on Lisa Hardy’s facebook page and fell in love with him. Lisa and her friend  Maria  Aurora  Nedelcu  are two of the most amazing women that Nik and I have ever had the pleasure to be associated with. Between the two of them and across the span of two separate countries they are managing somehow to coordinate rescuing dogs in Romania from some of the most appalling conditions I have ever seen and finding them loving homes. This is where Oscar comes in.

These two spectacular ladies saved Oscar from the Romanian dog shelter. Although shelter seems like totally the wrong word after the way they treat the dogs in these places. He was kept in a cage with other dogs. All fighting each other for food. Our boy ended up with extensive injuries on his body.

Maria  Aurora  Nedelcu, who is based in Romania, has the care of Oscar whilst he recovers from the trauma. At the same time as looking after and rescuing other dogs, she has to make daily trips to the vets with several of her dogs, including Oscar. Keeping everyone informed of the progress of all of these dogs, daily. Quite simply we have no idea how she manages it all.

Based in England, Lisa finds homes for these dogs. She then makes all of the arrangements to get them safely to England. In between times they also have to find donations to be able to continue. Not to mention finding time for their own lives as well. They are, as I said earlier, quite simply, amazing!

Oscar is the cutest little pooch with the saddest little eyes. The first photo we saw of him screamed at us, “I need someone to love me”. So that’s what we are doing. Admittedly we are loving him from afar at the moment. We

can’t wait to actually be able to take him home with us. However, we are being patient as we know he needs time to heal.

Katie and Marisa have already decided where the best places are for walking him. They are also thinking about which of my house rules they will be able to break with him. For example – will they be able to get away with sneaking him into their bedrooms whilst I’m at work? Oh, and Marisa has decided that as long as she doesn’t have to work the day we go to collect him she will be coming with us so that she can cuddle him all the way home.

Lisa emailed this morning to arrange the home check, so things are moving forward.
