Paignton is one of the three towns that make up Torbay known as the English Riviera, and is known for it’s award winning sandy beaches, attractions and pretty harbour. This resort has a Victorian pier and beautiful green parkland area bordering the sea, which has had a Geopark built at one end. The park was designed around the geological history of the English Riviera. Festivals and fairs are also hosted here.
Paignton also has many attractions to visit for those days when you don’t fancy the beach. There is Paignton Zoo, the Paignton to Kingswear steam train, Oldway Mansion, Occombe Farm and the harbour where boat trips, cruises and fishing trips are run daily in the summer months. If you fancy a day at the shops Paignton’s town has a good variety of tourist shops amongst shops you would normally expect to find in a town center.
Over all Paignton has a lot to offer in a relatively small area for all the family. We visited in the very early spring, on not such a good day and still managed to have a fantastic day out.
